Join us in creating a center for teaching and practicing small-scale, organic agriculture and sustainable living

The Perfect Place

Help us turn this beautiful farmland (currently owned by a developer, but available to us if we can raise the money to buy it)...

...into a model for sustainable agriculture. (See map below)

When we find the champions who can partner with us to buy this 250 acres, Fitchburg Fields will be an inspiring example for people who want to learn how to live sustainably in a changing world. This timely project grew out of the innovative programs offered by the Intervale Center in Burlington, Vermont and will become an educational example of what every large community in the country will need as we respond to global climate change by reducing our carbon footprint for housing, transportation and food.

Fitchburg Fields will integrate: a learning center for teaching and practicing small-scale, organic agriculture including a working farm; community gardens; long term leased plots for market gardeners, cutting edge solutions for energy, water and land use in a living laboratory; and a restored wetland and public parks.

By bringing together a broad coalition of groups that share our goals and by inviting other communities to learn from our experience, we can bring about a transition to a sustainable society.
